Because I write
I understand process takes time
I understand process is individual
I understand writing is the process

Because I write
I understand fingers flying across pages
I understand the love of pens and notebooks
I understand the necessity of a pocket in a notebook

Because I write
I understand the value of choice
I understand the job of craft
I understand the beauty of words

Because I write
I understand the need to read
I understand the need to have mentors
I understand the power of being a mentor

Because I write
I understand the importance of audience
I understand why kids stare at blank pages
I understand you can’t do your best every day

Because I write
I understand the beauty and agony of creating a message

Because I write
I am an active advocate for writers

  5. I love this...it is so important. I especially love your line "I understand you can’t do your best every day". We expect kids to be able to produce high quality on demand every time, yet if we are writers we know that id unreasonable!
