Your slice is perfection!
ReplyDeleteIt captures it all so beautifully.
Amen Deb! I wish all teachers of writers everywhere could read this.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect, Deb! Love the title!
ReplyDeleteI would also add because I write, I understand blank pages and bad writing days.
What a lovely poem! Being a teacher who writes has taught me how to have conversations with my writers!
ReplyDeleteI love this...it is so important. I especially love your line "I understand you can’t do your best every day". We expect kids to be able to produce high quality on demand every time, yet if we are writers we know that id unreasonable!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful structure and such words of wisdom. Doing the hard work of writing sure does help us become better teachers, doesn't it?!
ReplyDeleteBecause I write I understand that being given a topic to write on can feel constricting. Love your thoughts here.
