Celebrate this week~ Perspective and Choice

When I saw Ruth Ayers was offering a platform for celebrating I knew this was something I would be joining and this week I want to celebrate PeRsPeCtIvE and cHoIcE!

I believe perspective is a choice, a choice that effects the joy in our lives and the joy in the lives of those in our lives.  We choose how the world comes into view and how we will react. Perspective is an important choice, one that can change not only our view but, also the views of those around us.

Each day I make a conscious effort to poses a positive perspective. I choose to see the views of others and assume their intentions are well suited. It doesn't always come easy, there are days when I have to work harder than others, there are days when I have to, as I once read or heard someone wisely say, "fake it until I make it."

I find "fake it till you make it" is actually good advice, it's a choice in perspective. I choose to see the good around me, so I do! When I decide to be positive (honestly or faking) the attitude opens me up to the perspectives of others. I begin to understand their intentions, my thinking becomes flexible and I internalize the feelings I am modeling. This leads to collaboration which brings about new ways of thinking and stretches us all to work to the good of everyone.

I am not assuming this perspective works for everyone, but it works for me, it's a conscious effort and a choice for me. This week I celebrate perspective as a choice for me, one that allows me to see the many blessings in my life.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to Ruth for offering this focus. My first graders are also Celebrating this week, behindthescensinfirstgrade.com. We hope you will take a minute to drop by and celebrate with us by leaving us a comment!

  1. What a neat idea to celebrate not an event but an idea - perspective as a choice.
I think there are many people in the world who understand you and make a similar choice to look for positive and to understand..

  2. I love your perspective! I think you are right that it is a choice. It's not always easy to be positive but it's always a choice.

    1. Terje and Robin-
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Somehow knowing that perspective is a choice helps me to choose the positive even at the most trying moments.

  4. Love this post. I constantly tell kids to "fake it til you make it" when they don't want to be at school. Remind myself of it on those days I am a little out of sorts

  5. Having a positive perspective certainly makes it easier to see the good things that are happening around you. It is definitely a choice and it sounds like you choose wisely.

  7. Love it, and agree that it's good to look at other views. I just had my daughter and granddaughters (4 & 2) visit all day today. The 4 year old loves my Elephant & Piggie books (she has some too) & today we read & discussed, a lot, The Big Guy Took My Ball, which of course is all about perspective, for a 4 year old! Wonderful that Mo Willems puts this idea out for the young ones. Thanks for celebrating relationships and how they grow!

  9. Yep! Having a positive attitude is a choice! Trying hard to do that every day or at least do a good job faking it!

Working alongside you every day I know how much you work to keep that positive perspective. It is one ---- of the many ---- things that makes being across the hall a real pleasure.
